Ossett couple attacked on train

A COUPLE who needed hospital treatment after being assaulted by a thug on a train took this picture of their alleged attacker.

Police are trying to trace the man in connection with the attack on the Ossett couple as they travelled back from a football match in Nottingham.

The man sat near them on the 6.15pm Nottingham to Leeds train on Saturday, September 15, and became angry and confrontational, police said.

He threatened his male victim before punching him in the face, also attempting to headbutt him.

The victim’s wife tried to intervene and was struck in the face. She was left with a broken nose and needed a tooth removing.

A 25-year-old female passenger also tried to help and was punched in the eye, leaving her with bruising and pain to her left eye, before the thug fled at Langley Mills train station.

Sergeant Sue Jacks, from British Transport Police, said: “This was a nasty attack on three innocent victims.

“The victim managed to take a photo of his attacker and I’m sure someone will recognise the man pictured. If you do, please get in touch.”

The man is described as white, aged around 50- years old, about 5ft 11 tall and of a large build.

He was mainly bald with a small amount of dark hair round the sides. He wore a black suit jacket and trousers with a white shirt that was open at the collar. He had a Nottingham Forest pin badge on his right lapel.

The incident took place on the 6.15pm Nottingham to Leeds train on Saturday, September 15.
