Police are hunting for a gang of yobs who threw stones from a railway bridge onto a busy road.

A driver had his windscreen smashed as he drove along Denby Dale Road on Saturday.

The incident happened just past the Kingfisher restaurant in Calder Grove at around 2.50pm.

Insp Richard Clare, of the Rural Neighbourhood Police Team, said: “The traffic on the road was travelling at speed. Fortunately only the windscreen was damaged but potentially, there could have been very serious consequences.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
