Police key warning

MOTORISTS were warned to be extra vigilant by police after a rise in the number of car keys being stolen.

PC Dave Bradbury, of the north west neighbourhood police team (NPT), urged people to keep keys hidden in draws as far from windows and letter boxes as possible.

He also told people to keep doors and windows locked while they were outside in their gardens at the latest NPT meeting held in Horbury Library.

PC Bradbury said: “In Horbury in particular there seems to have been an increase even through the day time. Even if you’re going into the back garden for five minutes make sure you lock your door.”

At the meeting, held last Thursday evening, Sgt Lindsey Hammil said the policing priorities for the town would focus on speeding, problems caused by off-road motorbikes and anti-social behaviour in Green Park and Carr Lodge Park.
