Pupils learn at font of knowledge

YOUNGSTERS took a more grown-up role when they performed a Christening with a difference.

For it was only a doll that got its head wet when children from Snapethorpe Primary School in Lupset took part in the ceremony last week.

The five and seven-year-olds went along to St George's Church as part of a project to learn more about the Christian faith.

Rev Pat Maguire watched over the ceremony as children baptised the doll with water from the font.

Youngsters took on the role of vicar, proud family and congregation.

Teacher Karen Parsons said: "We had a lovely day. All the children got involved and everyone was very excited."
