DRUG dealers and addicts were targeted by police in a series of raids that took place throughout the city centre.
The Central neighbourhood police team (NPT) executed a number of warrants after complaints from the community.
Yesterday morning they targeted a house in Eastmoor after suspicions were raised about people dealing and using class A drugs.
A team of specialist officers used a battering ram to force through the door of a house on Windhill Road after a tip off.
On Wednesday evening the NPT raided another house in College Grove after concerns were raised by neighbours in the area.
And they found a small amount of cannabis – a class B drug – inside the house on Lower York Street.
A man was given a warning by officers for possession of the cannabis.
Sgt Kevin White, of the Central NPT, said: “The raids were carried out as a result of community intelligence that had been fed back to us from several residents in the areas targeted.
“If anyone has any information or concerns about drug dealing or drug users in their areas they should contact the NPT.
“We will always treat any information in confidence and act upon it. We will not tolerate drug dealing in our communities.”
