Rain fails to dampen fair spirits

DOWNPOURS failed to dampen spirits at the annual summer fair at Clifton Infants School.

A last-minute hitch with the weather meant the fair had to be moved inside the Manorfield Estate school, in Horbury.

But bumper numbers of parents turned out to support the event last Friday.

Jane Birkett, headteacher, said: “It went really well, obviously with the weather we had to have it indoors but that didn’t spoil it and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

“We opened with a concert called ‘What Did You Do In School today?’ Because the normal answer from children would be nothing or I can’t remember.

“So the concert proved they actually did a lot and it was a celebration of all the exciting work the children have done over the year including all the growing and cooking.”

The fair was organised jointly by the school and the Friends of Clifton Infants group to provide extra activities for the children.
