Rotary gives gift of words to nine schools

SPELLING will be as easy as ABC for pupils after Normanton Rotarians donated 300 dictionaries to nine schools

The pupils from both Normanton and Sharlston added the books to their collections this week.

It was part of a national reading campaign by Rotary clubs across the country called Dictionary 4 Life.

Ian Dransfield, chairman of the club’s community services committee, said: “This is the first time we have taken part in the campaign and we think it is something really worthwhile.

“The dictionaries are expensive so it is nice to help the schools to add to their libraries. The schools seemed very pleased with the donation.”

Dictionaries have been donated to Normanton Common Primary School, Normanton All Saints CE School, St John the Baptist School, Newlands Primary, Altofts Junior School, Normanton Junior School, Martin Frobisher School, Lee Brigg Infant School and Sharlston Community School.
