Show us your nuts, lads

Drinkers who bared all for a charity calendar have raised £2,000 for Wakefield Hospice.

Male regulars at the Park Tavern, on Park Square, posed naked last autumn, with their modesty disguised only by bags of peanuts and whisky bottles.

The calendars were sold for 3, and sponsorship from various local businesses brought in extra funds.

Landlady Janet Shaw said: "We never expected to raise this much.

"But some of the regulars went well out of their way to get sponsorship, and we're really thankful to the businesses who contributed too."

Mrs Shaw said regulars will continue to raise money for the hospice, and are considering another calendar next year.

She said: "We'll have to see if the ladies can beat them next time!"

Terry Rigg, fundraiser for Wakefield Hospice, said: "This was a great idea and we're extremely thankful."
