Spooky lights give glamour girl goosebumps

GHOSTLY orbs gave glamour girl Abi Titmuss the shivers during an Express photoshoot at the notoriously haunted Theatre Royal Wakefield.

We were speaking to the actress in the historic Drury Lane theatre on Tuesday for an upcoming feature in the Express women's magazine, What Women Want, when unexplainable green lights started to appear on our photographs.

Miss Titmuss, who is in the city appearing in Hull Truck Theatre Company's play Up 'N' Under, was shocked when she noticed the lights when flicking through the photos on the camera.

She said: "I can't believe it. It's given me the shivers. The lights are so glowing and look completely different to any of the lightbulbs that are in the background. I'm a believer and I definitely felt a presence of something. "

The green lights appear in several of the photographs taken in the circle of the theatre, and change shape and size.

Our photographer's camera was in full working order, lens flare was ruled out and the source of the lights could not be found.

Miss Titmuss said she'd had other ghostly experiences when she worked as a nurse, and that several of the women in her family were psychic.

Miss Titmuss, 33, said: "I really hope it is a ghost – as long as it's friendly and they think I'm doing a good job. I'm going to be thinking about it all night when I'm on stage."

Many people have had spooky experiences in the theatre and famously featured on Most Haunted Live in June 2005, when psychic investigators came across several spirits.

Medium Derek Acorah made contact with a spirit called Miriam in the circle, where our photos were taken.

Paranormal groups hire out the theatre every two to three months to hold night-time vigils.

Theatre Royal Wakefield's executive director Murray Edwards, saw the ghost of a lady with grey hair in the bar a couple of years ago.

He said: "I glanced over and saw a woman. It was just for a flash, but it was so vivid I could draw it perfectly clearly today.

"Just about every member of staff has their own ghostly story to tell."

Up 'N' Under is at Theatre Royal Wakefield until tomorrow.

Tickets are still available from the box office by calling 01924 211311... if you are brave enough.
