Teeing off a new era for City of Wakefield Golf Club
City of Wakefield Golf Club is moving from Lupset Hall to the Gaskell Sports Pavilion. Coun David Dagger handing over the keys to club president Martyn Good, with club professional David Bagg.
City of Wakefield Golf Club has been given the keys to its new home.
The club will move into the new Gaskell Sports Pavilion, which features a new eco-friendly irrigation system as well as changing facilities for local football and cricket clubs, on April 1.
It has been based at the grade-II listed Lupset Hall since 1937.
But the new facilities will benefit season ticket holders and casual golfers.
Coun David Dagger, Wakefield Council’s cabinet member for sport said: “This move is great news for the club and its members. The Gaskell Sports Pavilion is a great facility and will provide a good home to the City of Wakefield Golf Club as well as encouraging more people to take up golf and lead an active lifestyle.”
