The Cribs to get NME’s Outstanding Contribution To Music prize
The Cribs
The Cribs will add another award to their roster when they pick up NME’s Outstanding Contribution To Music prize.
The Jarman brothers were hailed for “literally bleeding for the cause” during their efforts over the last ten years. And they will collect their prize and play a live gig at Wednesday’s NME Awards in London.
Ross Jarman said it was an “honour” to win the award, which has previously been handed to Pulp, PJ Harvey and the Specials.
He said: “It’s really nice, especially as we’ve not done things in the same way as a lot of bands. I feel we’ve not got the award in an obvious way such as for headlining festivals.
“When you get an award like this you can look back and reflect on things. It’s nice to know what people think of us.”
Mike Williams, editor of NME, said: “The Cribs arrived on the scene in 2003 with a DIY, never-say-die attitude and they’ve not let up since, literally bleeding for the cause at some of the most chaotic and thrilling gigs of the past decade. They truly are outstanding as well as inspiring.”
