Thieves target charity shop
A CHILDREN'S charity which was burgled has hit out at the sick thieves saying they should be "ashamed".
Cash, clothes and toys were stolen from Barnardo's charity shop, on Brook Street.
It has been forced to close since the burglary, which happened some time over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Lindsey Harris, Barnardo's area business manager for Yorkshire, said: "Let's hope that the people who committed the break in feel ashamed if they read about the effect their actions have had on others.
"It is upsetting for our staff and volunteers when something like this happens. An act like this not only causes upset and inconvenience but it also has an impact on the children and young people that we work with. The money that is raised in our Wakefield shop is used to help vulnerable children and young people who live in the area."
Police believe the suspects entered the shop through the back entrance.
It is due to reopen on Monday and staff have appealed for help in restocking the shelves.
