Town show's a record breaker
RECORDS were set at this year's Horbury Show.
The biggest crowds yet were attracted to Carr Lodge Park on Sunday for the event, organised by Horbury and Ossett Phoenix Rotary.
And it is hoped the show will bring in more than 7,000 for local charities and good causes.
Rotarian John Faulkner, chairman of the show committee, said: “It was a fabulous day, a record show with a record crowd.”
Extra supplies of water and soft drinks were brought in due to soaring temperatures.
And the main attraction was Rob Allott and his Land of Prince Bishops Falconry Team.
There was also dancing from the Wildcat Dolls, Horbury Pink Ladies Majorettes and the Westgate Cheerleaders.
Another popular new attraction was the huge inflatable, Colourscape, sponsored by the Arts Council. It featured music and changes of light and colour for visitors to walk through.
And there was the traditional Punch and Judy show plus the annual dog show.
Mr Faulkner said: “We are very grateful to all our sponsors and especially Go Outdoors for making the day possible.”
