Victorian Market on its way
A VICTORIAN festival will get Christmas under way in the city centre next month.
There will be a special market, with gifts, crafts, food and drink, and a Santa’s grotto and reindeers, from Thursday, November 22 until Sunday, November 25.
On each night there will be spooky street entertainers and many shops will be open late.
Coun David Dagger, Wakefield Council’s cabinet member for culture, said: “The Christmas festival has gone from strength to strength over the past few years. It attracts traders and visitors from all over the country because there’s so much to see and do.”
It will run from 10am until 7pm Thursday to Saturday, and from 10am until 4pm on the Sunday.
And Wakefield’s Christmas lights are being switched on on the first day, at 5pm. For details, visit www.experiencewakefield.co.uk
