Wakefield Business Weeks begins
Last year's Wakefield Business Conference
A five-day celebration of the district’s business community begins today.
Wakefield Business Week will help promote local firms and provide specific events and seminars for company bosses and their staff.
It started this morning at The Hepworth Wakefield with a Leadership Breakfast hosted by Wakefield Council leader Coun Peter Box and co-founder of Jigsaw@work Michelle McArthur.
Other events taking place today include a session on how companies can make the most of Twitter, hosted by Janet Bebb from Social Progress, a marketing seminar and a social media session run by Frances Day from Marketing Doctor.
Workshops run by the council and Engaging Education will provide the chance for up to 200 11-year-old pupils to become young journalists for the day.
Events will continue to run until Friday, March 22.
The focal point of the week will be Wakefield Business Conference on Wednesday at Cedar Court Hotel.
A full-day event will include keynote speakers, including Chris Edwards, co-founder of Normanton-based Poundworld, a business clinic and an exhibition hall for 50 local suppliers to promote their firms.
The week is being backed by the Wakefield Express, which will also hold an exhibition during Wakefield Business Conference.
