TIME is running out if you want to land yourself the chance to get through the door of some of Wakefield’s top businesses.
The deadline of Monday October 1 for people to register for the Wakefield Works scheme is fast approaching, and available places are being booked up thick and fast.
It’s first come, first served, so to be sure of getting a time slot with your favoured employer, you’d better act now.
And one final big player has stepped up to the mark this week - the Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation will also be taking part on Thursday, October 4.
Aimed primarily at 18-25 year-olds, if you’re looking for your first job after college, looking for your next new job or simply wanting to explore a different career path, then Wakefield Works is for you.
The scheme’s website has now switched to employee mode - log on to http://www.wakefieldworks.co.uk - there you will find a full list of businesses taking part, together with information about how you can register your interest in taking part on the day, as well as some guidance notes.
Every participating organisation is offering a minimum of a week’s work experience to the best person they see on the day, and some also have bursaries, apprenticeships and future jobs on offer for the right people.
The initiative was set up by the managing director of First Choice Recruitment, Andy Turner, and creative director of Room:97 Marcello Moccia.
Mr Moccia said: “The Wakefield Works initiative can help you prepare for, find and stay in work.
“Now is the time to make contact with one of the 40 participating companies.”
Mr Turner added: “I really hope the young people of Wakefield take full advantage of this incredible opportunity, to be given personal advice from Wakefield’s biggest and most successful employers, this is a chance not to be missed!”
l If you’re a company that’s recruiting, but you weren’t able to sign up for the Wakefield Works scheme, why not call our advertising team on 01924 367228 for details of exclusive offers available for the edition of Friday, October 5.
