Water-burst hits Middlestown families
FAMILIES were left without water when a pipe burst in Middlestown.
The water pipe, on Thornhill Road, burst early on Sunday morning.
Manjit Reehal, owner of Middlestown Post Office, on Cross Road, said he had people queueing up for bottled water from 7.30am.
He said: "I usually get up at 7.30am to get the papers ready for when the shop opens at 8am.
"But the water was off and we had people queueing for bottled water."
Mr Reehal said it was the second time the village had experienced problems with the water supply during the past fortnight.
A spokeswoman for Yorkshire Water said the water was back on later on Sunday morning.
The spokesman said: "We would like to apologise to customers in the Middlestown area who may have been without water at intervals throughout the weekend because of a series of bursts on a six-inch water pipe on Thornhill Road.
"The pipe is now repaired and we are currently investigating the reasons behind the problems.
"Once again we thank customers for bearing with us while this emergency work was carried out."
