Will Wakefield's Westgate start to feel the Buzz again?
A HIVE of activity has surrounded one of the city's landmark buildings this week – fuelling speculation that the once-popular nightclub Buzz might soon be back in town.
But Unity House's leaseholder Cavendish Bars is keeping its cards close its chest.
A sign on the side of the building, which says 'The Buzz is back in Wakefield' suggests Buzz is definitely coming back, but Cavendish's agent said it was merely a play on words, and that did not confirm anything.
If it does return, it would only be in name because Luminar Leisure, which used to run it gave up its lease in April last year following a failed bid to turn the building into a 6m superclub.

Earlier this week, the company's agent Alistair Burford, 54, told the Express that nightclub bosses, supermarket companies and restaurateurs had all shown an interest in certain areas of the iconic building.
He said: "We decided to clean the building up and remove the boards from the windows to get it ready for viewing in the hope that it would create a bit of interest and it has certainly done that.
"But there is nothing definite about any of the likely tenants yet."
Yesterday Murray Edwards, of Wakefield Theatre Royal, confirmed he too was in talks with Cavendish about the use of space on the upper floors of huge building on Westgate, which he would love to see transformed into Wakefield's answer to The Round Foundry in Leeds or the Corn Exchange .
He said: "There is a demand for creative space in Wakefield and the waiting list for the Westgate Studios are proof of this. This building is close to the hearts of people in Wakefield and we want to try and find a way making this space available to them."
Mr Edwards said the building would also make a great music venue and said his dream of linking the theatre and Unity House with a bridge, was one he hoped really could one day be realised.
Wakefield Council also confirmed it was involved in the talks about putting the building to cultural use.
Mr Edwards praised Cavendish's efforts to spruce up the building, but said he did not think a nightclub would be the best thing for the area.
He said: "There are more than enough nightclubs on Westgate, which create a lot of problems at the weekend. Westgate needs a mix of developments, particularly to help bring it to life during the day."
