All in the name of love for brothers

A happy marriage on Easter Sunday has left two Ossett brothers with more in common than most – they now have wives with exactly the same name.

Christopher Childe, 29, married Gemma Louise Tolson, 26, at Bagden Hall, Denby Dale, nearly eight years after his brother Matthew married Gemma Louise Simms, in Somerset.

And having two Gemma Louise Childe's in the family is set to cause all sorts of confusion.

Christopher, who lives with his wife and 18-month-old son Bobby, on Holly Mede, said: "It can get confusing at the dinner table.

"But we knew it was going to happen and we've had some time to get used to it. Gemma actually thought about keeping her maiden name for a while to make things easier, but eventually decided not to, so here we are!"

Christopher, who runs his own car repair business, met his Gemma Louise five years ago on a night out in Wakefield, and said she shares more than just a name with his brother's wife.

He said: "They both have the same sort of brown hair, bubbly personalities, and love for shopping. They also both have pretty bad taste in men!

"Matthew's wife is from Somerset and has quite a different accent to my Gemma, who is from this area – thankfully we will always have that to tell them apart."

Matthew, 37, grew up in Ossett but now lives with his wife and two children, Ruby and Noah, in Twyford, Berkshire.

He said: "Thankfully, both sisters-in-law get on like a house on fire and are delighted to share a name, but it is quite a coincidence. Maybe something in our genes made Chris and I go for girls called Gemma Louise!"
