Brave Caitlin loses cancer battle

A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD girl who touched the hearts of the local community lost her battle with cancer this week.

Caitlin Broadbent, of Dacre Avenue, Lupset, died at home in the early hours of Wednesday morning - less than a day after doctors gave her two weeks to live.

The Waterton J&I School Pupil, was diagnosed with the rare form of childhood cancer neuroblastoma in May last year and was not expected to live until Christmas.

But she proved to be a little fighter, and in February doctors said they were astounded by her remarkable progress.

Her family were devastated when she took a turn for the worse last week and a trip to the hospital revealed a tumour on her liver had spread.
