THANKS: As this is my final column I would like to thank everyone who has submitted articles for inclusion over the last five years. I hope you will continue to do so when my successor is appointed.

LINDALE METHODISTS: The Pentecost Service on Sunday morning at Lindale Methodist Church will be led by the Rev Tony Jones. The evening service will be in the Taize style and will also be led by Rev Jones. The monthly Kirkhamgate Family Church will meet next Thursday at 5pm; this new venture is proving very successful so why not go along and see what it is all about.

CHRISTIAN AID: Members of Lindale Methodist Church wish to say a sincere thank you to the people of Kirkhamgate for their generosity during the recent house-to-house collection. The total raised was 558 which is an excellent result. The Christian Aid charity can be relied upon to direct the money to where it is most needed. Thank you.

KIRKHAMGATE BOOK CLUB: The next meeting of the Book Club will take place on Tuesday, May 25 at Lindale Methodist Church.

KIRKHAMGATE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION: The Association is arranging a coach trip to Lake Windermere on Tuesday, July 20. Departure from the village hall is 8.30am and there will be a stop near home on the return journey for a fish-and-chip tea. The cost is 12 for adults, excluding the meal. There will be an opportunity for an optional cruise on the lake at a cost of 8. To book places or request further information please contact Ralph or Sue on 01924 383071.

FLANSHAW URC: The service at Flanshaw United Reformed Church at 10.30am on Sunday will be led by Mr M Lewney.

PROM ON THE HILL: The concert in St Paul's Church on Saturday, June 5, now has tickets on sale by ringing 01924 376194. Everyone is invited to attend, enjoy what promisis to be a really good evening with Emley Brass Band.

BARN DANCE: The local volunteer fund raising group for Wakefield Hospice is holding a barn dance at St Anne's church hall, Wrenthorpe on Saturday, June 12 at 7.30pm. Contact Ian Chapman on 01924 364868. All proceeds are for the work of the Hospice.
