Seani set for GMTV glory?
NERVOUS Seani Armitage is biting her perfectly manicured nails this weekend – as the aspiring model has beaten thousands of women across the country to the final three of the famous GMTV Face of 2010.
Seani, 18, of Hargreaves Avenue, Stanley, has been filming in London all week, flew out to Paris to model on the catwalks and been snapped in a fashion shoot for Now magazine.
Yesterday the nation found out she was down to the final cut to be GMTV's Face of 2010.
If she wins she also gets an introduction to the infamous Storm model agency, who mange A-list models such as Kate Moss.
Proud mum Fiona Thompson, 43, said: "She made it from 9,000 to 130, then to 70, down to 20, then to six and now this.
"When she phoned and told me I was at work and we all just started screaming.
"Seani has always wanted to be a model but it's so hard to break into it when you're in Wakefield and not in London.
"I'm so proud of her."
Seani, who is studying her A-levels at Outwood Grange and juggles a night job at Argos and a weekend job at a hairdresser's, said: "It's all been so amazing.
"It's been the most nerve-wracking time of my life. Yesterday when we were cut down to the final three on the show I was in such a state.
"It's not all about being pretty and glamourous. Fashion and modelling is hard work, it's creative and an art form.
"That's why I want to do it. We've been judged on various tasks over the past week, such as how we work with other people, putting an outfit together to get a new trend for spring, and the catwalk training."
The judges are Now magazine's fashion director, Karen Buglass, Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck, who is global creative director for Toni & Guy group, and legendary model scout Fiona Ellis.
But now it goes down to a public vote and Seani needs the backing of all our readers.
Seani added: "I would really really love to win this – I think because I'm a size 10 to 12 I promote a healthier body image.
"I could never starve myself to be skinnier, and it is sad that some girls feel so much pressure to do so.
"I really hope I get through – the lines open next week.
"But if it all fails, I've got a place to study criminology at Northumbria University, which is brilliant too."
