Stephanie shouted out for boyfriend

STEPHANIE Hammill called out her fiance's name as she was allegedly abducted, a court heard.

The 20-year-old Wakefield woman said 'James' as the suspected taxi she got into sped off, leaving boyfriend James Garland behind.

Mr Garland, 26, shouted 'Steph' as the vehicle pulled away with his fiancee's leg still dangling from an open door.

He told Sheffield Crown Court on Tuesday: "I remember Stephanie shouting out 'James' again."

Minutes later Miss Hammill was found dead in the middle of Batley Road.

It's alleged the travel agent, of Lincoln Street, may have feared sexual assault from her abductor. She either jumped or fell from the moving vehicle into the path of an oncoming taxi.

Miss Hammill died instantly after the collision, which happened shortly after 2am on Saturday, November 29, 2003.

Wakefield-based engineer Ioannis Revenikiotis, 29, denies kidnap and manslaughter.

The trial of Revenikiotis, who is formerly of School Crescent, Dewsbury, continues.
