Tennis extravaganza to raise charity cash

WIMBLEDON is coming to the city with a tennis extravaganza this weekend.

Wakefield Tennis Club is hosting a charity Wimble Day to raise money for Marie Curie.

Free Lawn Tennis Association coaching, a barbecue, games and social tournaments will take place on Sunday after Wakefield Council teamed up with West Yorkshire Sport to support community clubs.

David Burton, of Wakefield Tennis Club, said: “The help and enthusiasm of the project is fabulous and we can already see the benefits for our club from working with our club support assistant.

“The Wimble Day event is something the whole of Wakefield Tennis Club is very excited about. It is going to be a great day.”

The tennis will be served up between 10am to 3pm at Wakefield Girl’s High School Playing Grounds on Blenheim Road, just off Northgate.
