Village campaigns to change name to Rhubarb
PEOPLE-power in Carlton is putting its weight behind a campaign to change the village name to reflect its world-famous crop.
Members of the village's residents association have announced an idea to replace the name Carlton with Rhubarb.
And no-one is more surprised than the village's high priestess of Rhubarb, Janet Oldroyd.
She said: "I didn't know anything about it until yesterday but I'm really touched the residents feel so strongly about it. I'm pleased they are as proud of the rhubarb heritage."
