Wakefield man arrested during Bradford protests

A WAKEFIELD man has been arrested as part of the day of protests that took place in Bradford yesterday (Saturday).

The man was one of 13 arrested for public order and violent conduct offences during the day, which saw protests from the English Defence League (EDL) and Unite Against Racism (UAR).

The 12 others arrested included eight from Bradford, one from Leeds, one from Birmingham and one from Walsall.

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman praised the people of Bradford for following police advice and staying away from the protests in the city centre and behaving in a "sensible" manner.

The force believe less than 1,000 EDL members and a similar number of UAR members were involved in the demonstrations.
