A “SOPHISTICATED” cannabis factory worth more than £3,000 was shut down by police in Lupset.
Officers found nine plants growing in a house on Horbury Road on Tuesday night just after 8.30pm.
Two rooms inside the family home had been converted especially for growing the drugs.
The raid was carried out after a tip off from keen-nosed neighbours who noticed the distinct smell of cannabis coming from the house.
A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis and was given a caution.
Sgt David Todd of Wakefield Central NPT said; “We will always look to develop and act on information supplied by the community. We may not be able to act on the information straight away but this is because we are looking for the chance where we will have the optimum chance for a prosecution.
“In this case we have arrested a man and he has been dealt with and the haul has been taken for destruction, as has the sophisticated equipment used in the cultivation, production and refinement of this Class B drug.”
Anyone with information should call police on 101.
