Man arrested after Crofton motorbike crash

A MAN has been arrested in connection with a motorbike crash where the rider was airlifted to hospital.

The collision between a Ford Transit van and 53-year-old rider happened on the junction of Doncaster Road, Cofton and West Lane at 3.25pm on Wednesday.

The rider suffered serious injuries and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by air ambulance. Police said he was in a serious but non life-threatening condition today (Thursday)

The spokesman also said the Ford Transit made off from the scene and was later found burnt out in Sharlston.

A man in his late twenties has since been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries to trace the other occupants of the van were ongoing.
