AN electrician fell from a ladder while working in Wakefield Cathedral this morning. (Friday)
Emergency services were called just before 9am and began working to bring the injured man down to ground level.
The man, who is in his 20s, had been working in the tower of the cathedral when he fell from his ladder.
Karn Dyson, secretary at Wakefield Cathedral, said: “Because he’s in the tower we can’t bring him down the stairs so the fire brigade are here.
“Paramedics have assessed him and he’s conscious, they think he’s fine but just don’t want to risk anything.”
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “He’s obviously been doing some work in the spire and he had got a back injury. Attempts are being made to bring him to ground level.”
