THE owner of family furniture shop was surprised and delighted to be serving a former page three model.

Robert Booth, of Booths Carpets and Furnishings, on Wonder Road, was visited by model and TV presenter Melinda Messenger

and a film crew as part of a new series on Channel 5.

He is due to appear on Cowboy Builders next week after he stepped in to help refurbish a couple’s home after they had work done by a dodgy workman.

The programme is hosted by Ms Messenger, 40, and Dominic Littlewood, who fix up ruined homes and track down the cowboy builders who cause the damage.

On Tuesday they will follow the story of a Pontefract couple who spent £14,000 on a builder who left their home structurally unsafe.

But Mr Booth was one of the local businesses to donate items to the couple.

Mr Booth, 52, said: “Melinda is a very attractive lady and was very pleasant. It was nice to meet her.

“Producers rang us up to see if we would be willing to help and I was more than happy to provide carpets and vinyl products.

“They filmed in our shop and we didn’t have to do any second takes so I don’t think I came across as a total plonker.”

A film crew captured Ms Messenger and her team at the shop off Ings Road last November.

They also shot workers fitting the carpets in the home.

Cowboy Builders starts at 8pm on Channel 5 on Tuesday.
