Women who ran soup kitchens to support striking miners are invited to the launch of a new book on the 1984-5 dispute.
They are invited to speak about their experiences of the year-long strike at Upton Community Library on Tuesday from 6pm.
The event is being held to launch Settling Scores: The Media, The Police and the Miners’ Strike, edited by Upton-based journalist Granville Williams.
Ann Scargill and former Frickley miner Ray Riley, who has written a chapter for the book, will be among speakers at the event.
The event will also celebrate the first anniversary of Upton Community Library Development and Learning Centre.
People are invited to drop in to the library on Waggon Lane between 8.30am and 1.30pm on Tuesday to find out about future plans for the facility.
