WAKEFIELD Cathedral is to host a mini-beer festival with a musical twist.
The landmark city building is holding its Ales and Hymns event on Friday, November 18. It will feature three or four real ales from Clark’s brewery on Westgate, food and favourite hymns with the cathedral’s house band.
Cathedral events co-ordinator Roz Cochrane said they got the fundraising idea after hearing about a similar event at Newcastle Cathedral. Other places of worship have also staged Pimm’s and Hymns events.
She added: “We thought it might be a good way of bringing in people who might not usually come and visit us.”
Tickets cost £4 from the cathedral’s bookshop or via email@example.com. Alternatively it’s £5 on the door. The price includes souvenir glass – etched with the Cathedral’s logo – and your first half-pint. The session time is 6pm to 10pm.
