Our readers have been trying the crack the mystery of eggs which have been appearing in gardens.

Last week, we reported how people living in Sandal had been left baffled after finding date stamped eggs among their flowers and shrubs.

People have been scrambling to our Facebook site to tell us about their discoveries.

Lucinda Powers said: “My mum had found 2 chicken eggs 2 weeks ago under her conifer tree (Lupset) and couldn’t understand how they had got there, the conifer branched were squashed down as though something had been sleeping at the bottom of it.. Strange?”

Kevin Pearson said: “I found one yesterday in my wheelbarrow which was full of compost to be used to pot up my plants!”

Sharon Smith said: “Maybe like the rest of the animal kingdom (getting confused about the time of year because of the bad weather) the poor old Easter Bunny doesn’t know what month it is?!.”

Robert Collier said: “I wonder if there’s a few stray chickens about or maybe a odd duck or 2 apart from the they must be ALIEN EGGS.”
