A FESTIVAL of music and art will take place in Newmillerdam on Sunday.

Horbury Wind Band, String Theory and Jazzmundo are among the acts to perform at Newmillerdam Country Park’s boathouse.

And the Faceless arts group will conduct a variety of demonstrations and children’s art workshops around the dam, at the arboretum and along the park’s causeway.

As well as providing family craft activities, they will also bring a 10-foot heron and host an Olympics-inspired race involving oversizes snails.

The free event, hosted by the Newmillerdam Community and Conservation Association (NCCA) and Friends of Newmillerdam Country Park, will run from 11am until 4.30pm and will include refreshments and a treasure hunt.

Chairman of the NCCA Graham Franklin said: “It’s a fabulous line-up and we’re really looking forward to the event now. Everyone will have a great time.”
