Motorists will be facing delays in Horbury in the new year.
Northern Gas Networks is replacing 1.5km of metal gas mains in the town with durable plastic pipes.
They will be carrying out work on Tithe Barn Street, Westfield Road, Jenkin Road, Laburnum Grove, Medlock Road and Victoria Street.
The £175,000 project starts on Monday, January 5 and ends in April.
Three way traffic signals at the junction of Jenkin Road and Tithe Barn Street will be installed for three weeks from Monday, January 5.
There will be a road closure on Manor Road from Monday, January 19 to Monday, February 2.
Businesses in the area will remain open and pedestrian access will be maintained.
Northern Gas Networks customer operations area manager John Pickering said: “We have planned our work closely with the Highways Department to minimise disruption to motorists, residents and local businesses.”
A community forum will be held at St Peter’s Church on Church Street on Wednesday, November 26 from 3pm to 6pm.
Mr Pickering said: “Our customer care and Operations team will be on hand to answer any questions from members of the public.
“We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience this essential work may cause and thank members of the public for their patience and support.”
