Campaigners against NHS privatisation will hold a public meeting in Wakefield tonight.
Action group 38 Degrees is inviting people to the meeting at Lightwaves Leisure Centre, opposite the bus station, at 7.30pm.
In February, the group presented a petition of more than 800 names to bosses at the Wakefield’s Clinical Commissioning Group, which has taken over the district’s NHS budget.
Fears have been raised by 38 Degrees that new rules which open the NHS up to competition from private companies could put profits before patients.
A 38 Degrees spokesman said: “What we want from the Public Meeting on Tuesday is an ongoing plan of action that can involve the largest number of people and keep up the pressure to maintain the NHS as an integrated public service.”
