Normanton’s Midland Hotel has won through to the grand final of our pub competition.
The friendly pub on Market Street has come top of the pile in the Normanton heat of the Wakefield Express’s Pub of The Year 2013 Competition.
The pub, run by landlady Tracy Chambers, has been praised by regulars for its welcome.
A delighted Miss Chambers, 42, told the Express yesterday: “I just can’t believe it. I know everybody said they were going to vote for The Midland. It’s just amazing.”
The mum-of-two has made a raft of changes since she took over 12 months ago. The pub has had a mini-refurb and now offers food every day from 8am.
Miss Chambers has also introduced a cask ale, a couple of bitters, a selection of wines, Sky Sports and there is live music every month.
She added: “Everybody is friendly, we all get on and they love it here.”
By winning heat two The Midland has now qualified for the grand final on May 24.
Please see next week’s Wakefield Express for the nominees for heat three, featuring Horbury and Ossett hostelries, and a voting slip.
