TRINITY CHURCH: Sunday, August 14 from 9.15am Holy Communion (no creche or Kids Club); 11am Service of the Word.

THE KING’S WAY CHURCH: A farewell service was conducted recently for the Rev Kay Alberg who has retired to the North East of England. Tributes were paid to both Kay and her husband Ron for their service to the church over the last 6 years.  Messages have been received from the representatives of C.A.R.T. the Christian African Relief Trust for the generosity of the church in supporting their work. Including trailer loads of goods £141 was given to help with travelling expenses. John Longbottom of Ossett will conduct the service on Sunday, August 14 at 10.30am and the 6pm service will be a Circuit Service at Horbury Methodist Church.

CAR BOOT SALE: Thornes Junior FC are holding a car boot sale on Saturday, August 20 between 8am and noon at Queens Drive Playing Fields, Ossett. Cars/Vans £10. WMDC approved.Toilets and refreshments available.

OSSETT NEIGHBOURHOOD PACT MEETING: Will take place on Tuesday, August 24 from 7pm till 8pm at Broadowler Stores, Broadowler Estate, Ossett. The benefits of attending the neighbourhood PACT meeting (Police and Communities Together) are that you will get to meet some of the officers that are responsible for your neighbourhood.

WAKEFIELD FC UNDER 11s: Are looking for new players, boys and girls, for the new season starting in September. Training in Thornes Park on a Monday between 7 and 8pm, with a level 2 coach. If interested please contact David on 07831 262870.

MARKET DAYS: Dont forget Tuesday and Friday are market days in Ossett. run in aid of Wakefield Hospice.

OSSETT POLICE STATION SURGERIES: Ossett Police invite members of the public to attend their surgeries which take place every Friday on the outside Market between 10am and 2pm, The surgery at the Maypole Childrens Centre, Gawthorpe which was held every 3 weeks has had to be cancelled at present. A new day will be arranged soon. The next surgery at Broadroyd House, Fairfield Road takes place on Friday, August 19 between 10am and 11am. Members of the public are invited to attend to discuss local policing issues and crime concerns, with officers from the Wakefield North West Neighbourhood policing team.

COUNCILLOR SURGERIES: Councillor Terry Brown’s surgeries are held at Broadowler stores on the first Monday of the month between 6.30 and 8pm. (except on bank holidays). The local police will also hold a surgery during this meeting. Cllr Terry Brown is also available for home visits by appointment on 01924 273732.
