Anglers Country Park and Haw Park Wood have won national awards for the way they are managed and maintained.
The Green Flag Awards are also awarded to sites with excellent facilities.
It’s the seventh consecutive year that Haw Park Wood has won the award, and the sixth for Anglers.
Coun Maureen Cummings, Wakefield Council’s cabinet member for the environment, said: “We are really proud to receive these awards and the fact that these green spaces are winning this award year after year is testament to the hard work of the people involved. These open spaces are well deserving of this national recognition.
“Both Anglers Country Park and Haw Park Wood are a credit to Wakefield and these awards will hopefully encourage more people to visit them and see for themselves why they are award-winning.”
The award coincides with national Love Parks Week, which runs until Monday.
Planned walks, bike rides, litter picks and children’s days will be running throughout the week to celebrate the event.
