Witnesses said an Arriva bus was hit by a lorry as it waited to pull out of a lay-by on John Ormsby VC Way, in Chidswell, close to the border of Ossett and Dewsbury at 11am.

Windows on the bus were shattered and a passenger was taken to hospital with shock.

Nigel Featham, managing director for Arriva Yorkshire, said: “We can confirm that one of our buses was involved in an incident whilst stationary at the traffic lights on John Ormsby VC Way, Dewsbury.

“There were no serious injuries reported, however one passenger has been taken to hospital suffering from shock.”
