Pensioner dies in crash

A pensioner has died after the van he was travelling in crashed into a pub.

The 71-year-old was a front seat passenger in a Nissan Primastar Van which collided with the corner of the Black Bull public house in Midgley yesterday (Thursday).

The van was travelling on Bar Lane away from Bretton roundabout towards Midgley when the incident happened just before 4pm.

The driver, a 76-year-old man from Rotherham, was taken to Pinderfields Hospital with minor injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses as inquiries continue into the crash.
