Yorkshire Sculpture Park is the county’s favourite attraction.

The open-air gallery triumphed over 100 other Yorkshire venues in a public vote which had been running throughout the summer to win the award.

Almost 5,000 people voted to choose their winner on the Yorkshire’s Magnificent Attractions website.

Peter Murray, Yorkshire Sculpture Park’s executive director, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been voted Yorkshire’s Most Magnificent Attraction once again. This award means so much to us because it’s decided by our visitors.

“The award is a wonderful recognition of the commitment and hard work over many years of everyone connected with YSP and confirmation that YSP’s incomparable combination of art and landscape is appreciated by many.”

The sculpture park knocked last year’s winner, the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, near Doncaster, into second place.

Deborah Hindley, Yorkshire’s Magnificent Attractions chairwoman, said: “We’re delighted with the phenomenal response we’ve had from the public during voting.

“YSP’s success in coming out on top in the poll is testament to its continuing dedication to offering the public one of the best days out in Yorkshire.”
