WAKEFIELD Wildcats will unveil a new signing today - a gifted teacher.

Qualified PE teacher and senior manager Mark Winder has been appointed director of education.

The club say it is a new role for Wakefield and for the game.

Chief executive James Elston said Mr Winder’s role would have two main elements. He will build partnerships with local schools, amateur clubs and communities within the city to improve outcomes for young people.

Mr Elston added: “The second part is to work with the coaching staff to develop the excellent scholarship and academy to an elite academy that provides the gifted and talented rugby players of West Yorkshire with the opportunity to develop their entire education and provide them with a strong basis to become elite athletes that can contribute to the whole community.”
