Powerful painkilling drugs have been stolen from a house in Ossett.

Thieves stole 40 morphine tablets, which had prescribed to the owner, from the house on Kingsway at around 3.30am.

Police have warned people not to take the tablets.

Insp Jo Mercer of the Wakefield North West neighbourhood police team (NPT) said: “Clearly it can be a risk to anyone’s health to take medicine not prescribed for them and Morphine can have some unpleasant side affects.”

Anyone with information should call the NPT on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
