Wakefield MP Mary Creagh has been appointed as shadow transport minister in a reshuffle of the Labour party’s shadow cabinet.
Ms Creagh leaves behind the left the environment, food and rural affairs brief,
she has held since October 2010.
Ed Balls, MP for Outwood and Morley, remains as shadow chancellor of the exchequor. And Yvette Cooper, MP for Normanton, Pontefract and Castleford, remains shadow home secretary after Labour Leader Ed Miliband announced the reshuffle to his shadow cabinet.
Ms Cooper tweeted: “Great that nearly half Labour Shadow Cabinet are women - proportion increased to 44%.”
