Prince Charles is set to visit Kirkgate Railway Station next week.
In the same week the Express announced the station will be staffed after its three year campaign, we can also reveal The Prince of Wales’ will visit on Tuesday.
His Royal Highness, who is well known for his interest in conservation, will see the shocking state of the dilapidated grade-II listed station.
Whilst at Kirkgate
, he will perform the re-naming ceremony of the Britannia steam locomotive on platform one.
The class 7 locomotive was built in 1951 and was the very first to be designed and built by British Railways.
It was withdrawn from service but bought by a group if enthusiasts in 1969 before being returned to service.
The ceremony will commemorate the locomotive reverting to its original name, Britannia.
