YOUNG musicians will get their chance to shine at a special bands showcase in Clarence Park today (May 14th).
Four-piece rock outfit The Riatines will headline the third annual young bands event, hosted by Wakefield Music Collective.
The 16-year-olds have played at The Hop and recently supported Peter and The Pirates.
Other bands Inlays and The Blood Spiders, both of which have members as young as 14, will also perform.
Rachel Winstanley, of the Wakefield Music Collective, said: “We know how important live music is to all generations, especially young people.
“We’d like to raise awareness of local talent and what better way of doing it than a gig in such a great setting, where there are no restrictions or entry fee.
“We hope Wakefield will support the collective and the bands by bringing the family along.”
The event is free and will run from 2pm until 6pm.
