IT was like a scene from an old fashioned romantic film when Denise Thompson asked her “perfect man” to be her husband.
The police support community officer (PCSO) had taken her beloved boyfriend PC Richard Marsh to see a movie at Cineworld Wakefield.
But during the trailers the projectors ground to a halt and PCSO Thompson declared her undying love for him, while her proposal flashed up on screen four.
And when she popped the question he said yes straight away as cinema-goers cheered and clapped.
Afterwards PCSO Thompson said: “I was so nervous before but when he said yes I was delighted.
“He’s my perfect man, he’s gorgeous and he’s what I’ve been looking for all my life.
“We’ve only been together for a couple of months but we’ve known each other as friends for years. He’s the one for me.”
She got the idea after watching a TV programme about proposals and decided to surprise her film fan man.
A week before she rang Cineworld to arrange her secret plan and then innocently asked him to go and see the new Judi Dench film, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
Cineworld manager Nadeem Ahmed said: “I’ve never seen the cinema this full before at this time so I was really nervous for them both. We’ve never had a proposal here before and I wish the couple all the best for the future.
