Motorists will face nine months of traffic chaos as city roads are closed for sewer works.
Yorkshire Water will start to lay nearly 700 metres of new sewer under Durkar Lane and Denby Dale Road, in Crigglestone, from Monday, January 20.
The work will be carried out by BarhaleWSP and is needed to serve the new Taylor Wimpey housing development off St James’ Way. Roads will be closed in sections, with diversions in place.
A special public drop-in session will be held on Thursday, from 4.30pm until 6.30pm, at Crigglestone Village Institute, on High Street, for people to find out more.
Yorkshire Water project manager Lee Laherty said: “We appreciate that the work will be disruptive but please be assured we’ll do everything we can to keep disruption to a minimum and our customer service team will be working closely with those most affected by the project.”
