Roadworks could cause delays for city’s motorists next week

Lanes will be closed overnight on Kirkgate, near the railway bridge, from Monday until Thursday, so that protective equipment can be installed under the bridge.

There will be off-peak lane closures on Marsh Way, near Sun Lane Leisure, from Tuesday until Thursday, while a new pedestrian crossing is installed.

Temporary lights will be in place on Birkwood Road, in Normanton, from Top Farm to the bridge, until Wednseday, for resurfacing work.

Bank Street, Market Place, and Towngate, in Ossett, will all be closed next Saturday because of the annual Ossett Gala event.

Lee Street, in the city centre, remains closed as work is carried out to the town hall. The whole road is out of bounds until October.

And the carriageway on Dewsbury Road is still narrowed between the junctions of Broadway and Neville Road. A temporary walkway is provided as works are carried out for a nearby housing estate.
